"What's in it for them?"
This simple question is one you can always come back to in business.
At any given point, your prospects care about themselves.
Your customers care about themselves.
Influencers care about themselves.
This is so obvious, yet 90% of emails I receive are self-interested.
They ask something of me, but offer nothing in return.
And I've been culprit on the other side of doing the same.
So here's a tip...
The next time you want to ask something of a prospect, customer, or influencer... stop and ask yourself "What's in it for them?"
Take a moment to answer this question and then write your message and approach with their benefit in mind.
It's a subtle shift, but a powerful one.
