QA Recruiters: 10 Firms for Software Testing and Quality Hires

By , co-founder of Alpha Apex Group, one of the ten firms below

Published Updated 12 min read

Quality assurance covers very different jobs. In a software company, QA engineers and test automation specialists test the software and help the team judge whether a release is ready to ship. In a pharmaceutical, biotech or medical device company, quality staff keep manufacturing and trials compliant with regulations such as Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). In other manufacturing, quality managers lead the work of maintaining quality standards. Each of these hires is hard to judge from a CV alone, and a recruiter who knows the field can find people you would not reach yourself and help you test what they know.

This guide compares ten QA recruiters and staffing agencies. It groups them by the kind of quality hire they handle, shows the proof and terms each publishes and lists what to settle before you sign.

Compare QA recruiters by the hire you need

Each firm's QA page, homepage and any client, case or testimonial page it links were read on October 6, 2026. A firm is listed where those pages show a recruiting or staffing service for QA or quality roles and publish at least one proof point. Where that proof covers the whole firm, the entry says so. This is a shortlist without a ranking, and it does not cover the whole market.

None of the ten publishes a fee percentage on the pages read. The last column shows what a firm does state about payment, guarantees or timing.

Ten QA recruiters, grouped by the quality hire they suit and A to Z within each group, as their own pages described them on October 6, 2026. Figures and client names are the firms' own claims. "Not stated" means not published on the pages read.

Potential fit
A regulated quality hire in Europe, the US or Asia Pacific, from QA associate to head of quality or a Qualified Person
Where it works
Europe, the US and Asia Pacific (its QA page)

Barrington James reports 20K candidate placements in total on its homepage (opens in a new tab), and 500+ clients served over a 12-month period. Both figures cover the whole life sciences firm.

Its QA page describes a specialist practice placing professionals "from Associate level through to VP of Quality and Chief Quality Officer". It says it recruits Qualified Persons with EU and UK certification, and provides contract QA staff for regulatory inspections, internal audits and remediation projects. The roles it lists as placed include QMS engineers and managers, CAPA consultants and QC scientists. The page also offers retained and executive search, market mapping and salary benchmarking.

Proclinical website, captured October 2026.

Potential fit
A life sciences company that needs a QA leader, a contract team for a remediation project, or both
Evidence
an FDA remediation case (opens in a new tab); a UK quality team build (opens in a new tab)

In a case study posted in March 2021, Proclinical describes a multinational medical device manufacturer that had received an FDA warning letter. Proclinical says it "delivered 33 hires (16 of which are still on site over a year later)", drawing on contractors in fields such as CAPA, validation and post-market surveillance, and that the client's most recent FDA audit at the time "was a great success". In a second case from the same month, it built a UK quality function for a specialty pharmaceutical company, starting with a Head of QA. Both clients are unnamed.

The QA and compliance page says its quality assurance recruiters specialize exclusively in quality assurance, compliance and quality control positions, for pharmaceutical, medical device, biotech and contract research organizations across Europe, the USA and Asia Pacific. It covers contract and permanent staffing, executive search and managed workforce projects, and lists roles from global director to auditor, Qualified Person and sterility assurance specialist.

Ask first
the published cases date from 2021, so which QA projects has the team run since?

A pharmaceutical, biotech or medical device company hiring QA or QC staff, from QA officer to head of QA, head of QC or a Qualified Person

R&D Partners' QA page reports 7500+ contract and permanent placements and 60+ dedicated and specialist recruiters. It does not say these figures are specific to quality roles, and it names no client or case. Hobson Prior adopted the R&D Partners brand in October 2025 (opens in a new tab), bringing the two businesses under one name.

The page describes a dedicated QA and QC team whose common placements include QA officers and engineers, QA team leaders, Qualified Persons, heads of QA, QC managers and heads of QC. Its workforce solutions page (opens in a new tab) offers executive search and permanent recruitment alongside recruitment process outsourcing and managed programs.

Real's UK life sciences page (opens in a new tab) reports 16 offices worldwide and 3,372 specialists placed in 2023. The placement figure is not identified as QA-specific. Real is one of the recruitment brands of SThree.

Its US employer page for pharmaceutical and biotechnology lists quality assurance and compliance among the specialties it staffs, "from contract consultants to permanent placements". It works with pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device and contract research organizations, and says clients pay only when it finds the right match.

Ask first
when exactly is the fee due, and what is it as a share of salary or as a contract rate?

Potential fit
QA hiring through a firm that also recruits technical staff and executives

Alpha Apex Group's QA page reported these figures in October 2026: 2,000+ placements worldwide and a 43-day average time to fill full-time hires. It also says new candidates reach the hiring manager's inbox within 72 hours, without saying from which point or for which searches. The page does not identify these figures as QA measures and names no QA client or case.

The page describes recruiting QA professionals around a product's testing requirements, and support with onboarding so new QA hires can work within your development process. It also mentions training programs for QA teams. Agree the role, search model and fee directly.

Insight Global's QA staffing page carries testimonials from named clients, among them a head of vendor management at Pluto TV and contacts at Nike, T-Mobile, Macy's and the Kellogg Company. None says the roles were QA roles.

The page offers QA engineers, test automation specialists and QA managers on contract, contract-to-permanent or permanent terms, with permanent hires "from entry-level to C-suite". In October 2026, it said you could find a QA tester "in 14 days or less" and pay nothing until you hire. Its FAQ says that, depending on interview availability and decision-making, the firm typically identifies and screens candidates within 24 to 48 hours, and that interviews, onboarding and starting work usually take one to three weeks.

Ask first
what fee applies to each of the three hiring models, and what happens if a hire leaves early?

QA Mentor's homepage (opens in a new tab) carries a testimonial from Michael Lavatman, CTO of BWell, who says his company relies on QA Mentor "for providing qualified and experienced resources" to its QA department. That describes supplying QA staff; it does not show a direct-hire placement. Across its testing business, QA Mentor also reports 476 clients and 3257 completed projects.

Its recruitment page says senior QA experts find, screen and interview candidates, from entry-level testers to senior QA executives, and that the service is tailored to small and medium companies and staffing agencies. It offers full-time hires, its own consultants placed at your site and remote consultants. Its published guarantee, checked in October 2026, reads: "If we send you 2 candidates, we guarantee that one of them will be hired or our service is free."

Savarian's case study (opens in a new tab), published in November 2022, describes setting up a QA team from scratch for a US-based fintech startup. The work included recruiting an in-house Head of Quality Assurance and a Lead QA Engineer, and organizing onboarding for in-house and offshore teams. The client is unnamed.

Savarian is a software testing company. Its recruitment page describes a full-cycle process for manual and automation QA specialists, from writing the job post to sending offers. It says you can attend interviews and review CVs, and that "you will always have the last word" on candidates.

Its site also carries testimonials from Mansfield Oil Company (opens in a new tab) and Chevron-Phillips (opens in a new tab), published in 2011 and 2001. None of these is described as a QA hire.

The firm calls itself a quality control and quality assurance staffing agency and says it screens for "capability, chemistry and character". Its clients page says all of its clients have offices in Houston, that it has people across the country, and that it supplies contractors, project teams and permanent placements for quality, continuous improvement, HSE and other functions.

Potential fit
A manufacturing quality leader, from manager to C-level, through a global firm

Across the whole firm, Korn Ferry says on its homepage (opens in a new tab) that it works with 96% of Fortune's top 50 world's most admired companies. Its QA page names no client or placement.

The QA recruitment page sits within its supply chain recruiting practice and focuses on quality in manufacturing. It says the firm places quality professionals "from managers to directors and C-level executives" for mid-tier to Fortune 500 companies, combining targeted recruiting with national reach.

Before you call a recruiter, decide what the hire must achieve. In a 2022 episode on leading others, I recommended defining success for a role in one sentence, so it becomes a filter for everything the person does. My example was our podcast managers at Content Allies, the podcast company I founded, whose job was making sure every episode was published on time and error-free.

That is a quality definition, and it works for a QA hire. Before you brief a firm, write the sentence: for example, that releases reach customers without defects the team should have caught, or that the site passes its next inspection. Pair that outcome with the work the person will own: hands-on testing, building automated tests or leading compliance. That gives the recruiter a clearer brief and gives you a way to judge the candidates they send.

What to settle before you sign

  1. Name the quality hire and its standards

Say whether the role is software testing, regulated product quality or manufacturing quality, and name the tools, frameworks or regulations it covers: test automation frameworks, GMP, GCP or a quality management system. A head of quality for a medical device site is a different search from a QA engineer for a web product. For the wider engineering team, compare technology recruiters.

  2. Ask who will assess technical skill

Find out who interviews candidates on testing or compliance knowledge before you see them, and how. QA Mentor says its own QA experts interview candidates; ask every firm the same question.

  3. Get proof from QA hires like yours

Request references from clients who hired the same kind of QA role at your level. Most firms here publish figures that describe the whole business.

  4. Put the commercial terms in writing

For a permanent hire, get the fee basis, the payment dates and the remedy if the person leaves early. For contract QA staff, get the hourly or daily rate, the notice period and the terms for converting a contractor to an employee. A quoted timeline should say where it ends: first candidates, an accepted offer or a first day at work.

  • Which QA roles like ours have you filled in the past two years, and can we speak to one of those clients?
  • Who on your team assesses testing or compliance knowledge before we see a candidate?
  • Is the search contingency, retained or a mix, and what is the fee?
  • When is each payment due, and what happens if the person leaves in the first months?
  • If we convert a contract tester to a permanent employee, what does that cost?
  • Can you supply contract QA staff while the permanent search runs?
  • How will you assess fit with our team, and how often will we hear about the search?
