Workday Recruiters and Staffing Agencies: 11 Firms Compared

By

Published Updated 14 min read

When your Workday tenant needs people, "someone with Workday experience" is rarely the real brief. An implementation running toward go-live may need a payroll consultant who can start next week. A live system may need an integration developer or an HRIS analyst who will own it through years of releases, security changes and reporting requests. A recruiter who works in the Workday market can reach people who are not applying for jobs and test what they have actually configured.

This guide compares eleven firms that recruit Workday professionals. It groups them by how much of their business is Workday, shows the proof and terms each publishes, and lists what to settle before you sign.

DisclosureJake Jorgovan co-founded Alpha Apex Group, one of the eleven firms in this list.

Compare Workday recruiters by what they publish

Each firm's own pages show a recruiting or staffing service for Workday roles: either the whole firm works in Workday, or it has a dedicated Workday page or desk. The list is not ranked and is not a complete map of the market. If you need a firm to implement Workday for you, compare HRIS implementation consultants instead.

Eleven Workday recruiters and staffing firms, grouped by specialization and A to Z within each group, as their own pages described them on October 7, 2026. Figures, client descriptions and terms are the firms' own claims. "Not stated" means not published on the pages read.

Firms that specialize in Workday

4 of 11 firms

Each of these firms describes its business as Workday staffing or Workday services. Agilysis, Hale and Sama also sell support or consulting hours alongside recruiting; Workday Recruiters is a small search boutique.

Potential fit
Contract or contract-to-hire Workday staff, with AMS or stabilization support from the same firm
Where it works
offices in Naperville, Illinois and Pune, India
Evidence
a payroll staffing case study (opens in a new tab)

Agilysis's staffing case study, posted in November 2020, describes a Fortune 500 client whose implementation partner was moving its payroll from a legacy mainframe into Workday Payroll, with over 70 integrations for 25,000 employees in the US and Puerto Rico. Agilysis proposed staffing the project with contract-to-hire consultants and backfilling the client's own staff with temporary contractors. The client brought on 11 Workday consultants this way and later hired four of them as permanent employees.

The firm describes itself as an IT consulting firm providing advisory, managed services and staffing "exclusively in Workday", founded in 2015. Its contract staffing page (opens in a new tab) names Workday project managers, functional leads and technical leads, and it also offers contract-to-hire and direct hire. In March 2026 it announced a partnership agreement with Workday as a Workday Services Partner.

Hale International website, captured October 2026.

Potential fit
Contract Workday consultants at short notice, or direct-hire and retained searches for an internal Workday team
Where it works
offices in New York and Welwyn Garden City, UK, supplying organizations across the United States
Evidence
five case studies (opens in a new tab)
Published pricing
retained search requires a percentage of the fee upfront; the percentage is not stated

Most of Hale's five case studies describe several hires for one client. For a global retailer three months from go-live, it says it spoke to the client on a Friday and had four contractors start on the Monday, then placed Financials, integration and payroll consultants. For a large healthcare business support organization it reports 10 placements in just over a year to build an HRIS team. The clients are unnamed and the case pages carry no posted dates; the healthcare case refers to a January 2022 go-live. On its homepage, a talent acquisition director at a consulting organization says Hale placed over 20 Workday professionals with them in close to three years.

Hale describes itself as a Certified Workday Staffing Partner that supplies only Workday professionals, on contract and direct hire, plus AMS support. Its About page (opens in a new tab), checked in October 2026, reports 2,700+ Workday specialists placed with 800+ organizations across 37 US states, and says contract consultants can start within 24 hours. The firm was founded in 2019. Retained search, which its clients typically use for senior positions or hard-to-find candidates, includes video interviews of each candidate.

Ask first
what share of the retained fee is due upfront, and what happens to it if the search stalls?

Sama Workday Services

Sama Workday Services website, captured October 2026.

Potential fit
Senior Workday consultants for a live tenant, or a direct-hire search on stated commercial terms
Where it works
San Jose and Campbell, California; national search, international on request
Published pricing
contingent or retained search; a success-based fee with retainers credited against it; a replacement window set in the statement of work

Sama's testimonials are attributed by role and type of organization. A director of HRIS at a Fortune 500 retailer says Sama supplied consultants for a complex payroll and benefits rollout, and a Workday program manager at a higher education institution describes consultants who helped meet aggressive project deadlines.

Its direct-hire page (opens in a new tab), checked in October 2026, sets out its terms in detail. It offers contingent or engaged (retained) search with a success-based fee, credits any retainer against that fee, invoices contingent searches on hire, and defines a replacement window in the statement of work. It expects a first shortlist of three calibrated candidates typically within one to two weeks, depending on the role. Its staff augmentation page (opens in a new tab) says it presents contract candidates within 48 to 72 hours.

The firm describes itself both as "100% focused on Workday staffing" and as a boutique consultancy for post-go-live Workday environments. Its homepage FAQ says it does not run full implementations as a consultancy, though its staff augmentation page says its consultants also support new implementations and module rollouts.

Ask first
how long is the replacement window, and does it cover a hire who leaves or only one who is let go?

Workday Recruiters website, captured October 2026.

Potential fit
A permanent or contract Workday hire through a small US boutique with one consultant per client

Workday Recruiters describes itself as an intentionally small boutique search firm that specializes in placing Workday professionals with US organizations of all sizes, with one consultant assigned to each client. It lists Workday consultants, functional consultants, developers and architects, pre- and post-sales consultants, project managers and trainers among the roles it fills, for permanent, part-time or contract work.

Its homepage and employers page name no client, placement or testimonial and publish no fees, so ask for references from searches like yours.

Potential fit
Workday hires through a firm that also recruits ERP, technology and executive roles

Alpha Apex Group says it recruits Workday professionals for implementation and ongoing management, matching technical skills and fit to the HR, finance and operational workflows the team supports. It describes technical interviews, scenario-based evaluations and cultural fit analysis, followed by onboarding support and regular check-ins after placement.

The page names no Workday client, placement or case and publishes no fees. The same client logos appear on the firm's homepage, without saying which engagements involved Workday.

Potential fit
Certified Workday contractors for a project phase, or permanent HRIS and payroll hires, in North America, Europe or APAC

GQR's Workday page, checked in October 2026, reports 400+ customers and 150+ projects supported, and an average of under 24 hours to deliver candidate profiles. Its testimonials are attributed by first name and title, without the employer. David, a director of business systems, says GQR "has consistently met our needs", for key internal roles and for contractors with niche skills, and Liam, an associate director, says GQR helped rebuild his team.

GQR describes itself as a Certified Staffing, Advisory, and Referral Partner of Workday that holds Implementor and Pro certifications. It says it can transfer and maintain Implementor certifications for independent consultants and Pro-certify customer-side staff, which matters if your project requires active certification. It staffs projects from the RFP and Phase 0 through Phase X, and recruits permanent HRIS directors, analysts, payroll managers and total rewards professionals. Workday is one of several practices; others cover healthcare, life sciences, technology, professional services and financial services.

Potential fit
A US Workday hire on contract, contract-to-hire or direct hire, with a stated shortlist time
Published pricing
direct-hire fee due on the start date; amount not stated

KORE1's Workday page, checked in October 2026, says its recruiters fill most Workday roles in an average of 17 days from intake to signed offer, with a 92% one-year retention rate. Its Why KORE1 page (opens in a new tab) gives similar figures for the whole firm: a 92% 12-month retention rate and a 17-day average time-to-hire for IT roles. The Workday page names no Workday client or placement.

The page describes a 60 to 90 minute intake call and a certification check before candidates are submitted. Most HCM, Financials and developer roles get a shortlist in three to six business days, niche searches in one to three weeks, and KORE1 checks in at 30, 60 and 90 days after the start. Contract staff are employed on KORE1's W-2 with an option to convert. Workday is one desk in a national IT, engineering and finance staffing firm founded in 2005.

Potential fit
Full-time or contract Workday analysts, HCM specialists, payroll, benefits and conversion roles
Where it works
based in Pennsylvania

NewConfig lists full-time and contract staffing for Workday analysts, HCM specialists, conversion leads, managers, developers, consultants, benefits analysts, payroll staff and trainers. It describes a process that runs from the job specification through screening and a shortlist to interviews and offer management, with free advice and a free quote.

Its founder, Dmitry Nulman, a former certified SAP consultant, writes that his work with SAP, Salesforce, PeopleSoft, Oracle and Workday showed him how often recruiters miss whether a candidate can deliver. NewConfig recruits across executive, IT, legal, construction and finance roles, and the client list on its About page (opens in a new tab) covers the whole firm. No Workday client or placement is named on the pages read.

Potential fit
Workday contractors across the US and Canada, especially where cross-border onboarding or contractor compliance matters
Where it works
14 offices across North America; remote and hybrid roles across the US and Canada

Named clients give the testimonials on Procom's Workday page: Sarah Clayton of Red Hat, Griffin Webster of the Alberta Energy Regulator and Jenn Furlano of PWC Companies. They praise its account management, vetting and responsiveness and do not mention Workday. Its firm-wide figures include 72 average hours to a shortlist for priority roles and a client NPS of +81. Its Workday FAQ, checked in October 2026, says it can often connect clients with Workday professionals within 24 to 48 hours.

The page covers Workday consultants, developers, integration specialists, analysts, project managers and administrators across HCM, Payroll, Financials and Recruiting, vetted through certification and skills checks, references and technical assessments. Procom is a broad IT staffing firm that also provides employer-of-record and agent-of-record services. Its homepage (opens in a new tab) says contract rates are hourly and direct-hire fees are percentage-based, with a cost breakdown that includes its margin; it publishes no rates or percentages.

The Planet Group website, captured October 2026.

Potential fit
Larger Workday programs that need several certified contractors, AMS or nearshore support
Evidence
a health insurer case study (opens in a new tab)

The Planet Group's case studies include the country's largest customer-owned health insurer, which had just gone live on Workday when it acquired a company and began a second implementation. The case says the insurer's Big 4 implementation partner and Workday both recommended The Planet Group, which provided nine contract resources, four of them actively certified, across Core HCM, security, compensation, recruiting, reporting, integrations, learning and position management.

Its Workday page reports 2,000+ placements, nearly 300 customers supported and a 61% repeat-client rate, without saying whether these cover only Workday work. It describes the firm as a Workday Services Partner and "Workday's first global staffing and AMS partner across North America and Europe" since 2019. It describes a certified network of 400+ professionals and a mix of US-based and nearshore specialists. OmniPoint Staffing, an ERP staff augmentation firm, joined The Planet Group and now operates under that name (opens in a new tab). Workday is one practice in a firm that also staffs engineering, finance, creative and other roles.

Tier2Tek Staffing

Tier2Tek Staffing website, captured October 2026.

Potential fit
A permanent Workday specialist hire with a published fee and guarantee
Published pricing
18% of the candidate's first-year base salary, paid on hire, with a 90-day replacement guarantee subject to the recruiting agreement

Tier2Tek's homepage (opens in a new tab), checked in October 2026, publishes its terms: a direct-hire fee of 18% of the candidate's first-year base salary, no upfront fee, and a 90-day replacement guarantee subject to the recruiting agreement. Its Workday page, read in October 2026, said its recruiters assessed implementation history, production support experience, troubleshooting methods and configuration decisions, and listed the questions they put to candidates.

Tier2Tek recruits only for permanent positions, so it suits an internal Workday team; for project contractors, look at the other firms. The case examples and testimonials on the pages read cover CAD, cloud and IT support hiring; none describes a Workday placement.

Decide what the Workday hire must do before you brief a recruiter

Define the work and the employment model separately. Building Workday (an implementation or a new module) and running it (releases, security changes, reporting requests) call for different experience, but either can be done by a contractor or a permanent hire. The staffing cases above show contractors supporting live tenants and project staff becoming permanent employees. Tier2Tek recruits only permanent staff; every other firm except Alpha Apex Group, whose page does not say, lists contract staffing, and Agilysis, Hale, Sama and The Planet Group also sell support or consulting hours.

I learned in other functions that you need some competency in the work yourself before you can hire for it well. I went through several painful finance hires until I learned finance well enough to know what to look for, and the same happened with operations: my next operations hire worked because I knew what the business needed from its systems. I described both on the productize.co podcast in May 2025 (opens in a new tab).

If Workday sits outside your own expertise, for example as a CFO or CHRO who owns the program, I'd apply that before calling a recruiter. Learn enough to write down whether the person will build or run, which modules and integrations they will own, who they report to, and what they must have delivered by the end of their first quarter. That brief lets you judge whether a firm's candidates have done the work you need.

What to settle before you sign

  1. Ask for Workday references at your stage

Request references from clients in your industry who hired for a similar stage: an implementation, a module rollout or a live tenant. Testimonials and case studies on a firm's site show what it chose to publish, and several firms here publish none for Workday; a reference call lets you ask what went wrong.

  2. Check certification where your project needs it

If your implementation partner or project plan requires certified consultants, ask whether each candidate's Workday certification is current and which organization holds it. GQR and The Planet Group describe certified networks, and GQR says it can maintain certifications for independent consultants.

  3. Agree the terms in writing

Compare proposals on the same points: the fee basis, when each payment is due, what happens if the hire leaves early, and whether a quoted timeline ends at a shortlist, a signed offer or a start date. Tier2Tek is the only firm here with a fee percentage published on the pages read; Sama, Hale, KORE1 and Procom describe their fee structures without one.

Questions for the first call with each firm:

  • Who will run the search day to day, and which Workday roles like ours have they filled in the past two years?
  • Will the person be a contractor on your payroll, a contract-to-hire, or a direct hire on our payroll, and what does each cost?
  • How do you handle a confidential search, and do you get each candidate's consent before submitting them?
  • Is the fee contingent, retained or a mix, and when is each payment due?
  • What happens if the person leaves in the first months: a replacement, a credit or nothing?
  • Does your timeline end at a shortlist, a signed offer or a start date?
  • If certification matters, is it current, and who holds it?

How this list was made

Each firm's own Workday, service, case, client and fee pages were read on October 7, 2026. A firm is listed where those pages show a dedicated Workday recruiting or staffing service, and grouped by how much of its business is Workday.
