Social Media Agencies: 60 Firms Compared by the Help You Need

By Jake Jorgovan, a partner in Fieldtrip, the agency group that includes inBeat and Web Tonic. Both are among the 60 firms below.
Published Updated 36 min read
A social media agency takes on work your own team cannot keep up with: planning and publishing content, answering comments and messages, running paid campaigns and reporting what they return. Which agency fits depends on which of those jobs you hand over. A firm that runs a restaurant group's Instagram is a different hire from one that buys Meta ads for an ecommerce brand or writes LinkedIn posts for a software company's executives.
This guide compares 60 social media agencies, grouped by the kind of help they offer. It shows the evidence each one publishes, the prices and contract terms that some of them state, and what to settle before you sign. The last group lists specialists based in Chicago, Miami, San Diego and San Francisco.
Compare social media agencies by the help you need
Each firm below shows a social media service on its own site and at least one named or described client, case or testimonial. The order carries no ranking, and many capable agencies are not here. Firms appear A to Z within each group. For programs across several countries, We Are Social, OST Marketing and Ignite describe work for multi-market brands. The groups follow each firm's main offer, and several firms run organic and paid social together.
Most firms price by proposal. Fifteen publish a fee or a starting point on the pages read, two more state the advertising budget they expect, and the section on prices compares their terms. If you already know the channel or format you need, narrower guides compare Meta ads agencies, TikTok marketing agencies, influencer marketing agencies and UGC agencies.
Jump to the group you need: agencies that run your channels, creator-led programs, B2B, paid social, digital agencies with a social service, small businesses and nonprofits or local specialists.

| Social media services for small businesses and nonprofits3 of 15 firms | |||
| Jumper Media | $1,500 a month | Instagram: five posts and three stories a week, engagement | Seven-day free trial; 30 days' cancellation notice |
| LYFE Marketing | $750, $1,350 or $1,550 a month, plus $300 setup | 12 or 20 posts a month, page monitoring, sponsored posts | No long-term contracts |
| Socialistics | $2,500 or $4,000 a month | Nonprofits: posting three times a week on up to three platforms, paid campaigns | Twelfth month donated on a 12-month engagement |

| Rising Tide Social | Management from $2,497; ads from $500 | Social media management; ad management; billing period not stated | Not stated |
A $750 package and an $8,000 retainer buy different things. The first is a set number of posts on two platforms, and SmartSites' packages go further by stating the boosting budget and hours of engagement each month. Ignite prices its fee around the services a brand needs, and its FAQ says most national and global brands it works with spend well beyond the minimum for always-on programs on several platforms. Before you compare quotes, write down which of those jobs you are handing over, how many platforms and markets are involved, and who approves content.
Ask what the fee excludes, and what ad budget the agency expects. Online Optimism states a $500 monthly ad spend minimum separately from its fee, Brick bills ad spend through the platforms, and SmartSites includes its boosting budget in the package. Paid specialists also publish budget guidance: AdVenture says at least $5,000 a month suits most businesses on Meta, and ATTN recommends $45,000 while working with brands from $20,000. Creator fees, production days and paid promotion can sit outside a retainer, so ask each firm which of them its fee includes.
Terms matter as much as price. SociallyIn says it requires no minimum contract, and Ignite offers audits and influencer projects before an annual commitment. A paid first project, or a short opt-out like Online Optimism's 60 days, lets you see the team's work before you commit for a year.
Who owns your accounts when the agency changes?
A social program is built on platforms you do not control, and an agency relationship can end. Account control and retained content make it easier to change agencies; platform rules stay outside your control.
In 2019 I wrote about the flaw in the LinkedIn prospecting company I was running then: "We built our business on top of Linkedin." Every change LinkedIn made meant we had to change too, and we could not control it. The question I put to readers then applies to any brand that depends on social: "Am I building on someone else's foundation?"
You cannot avoid the platforms, but you can avoid depending on the agency as well. Before you sign, agree that:
- Your company controls its business pages and ad accounts, and the agency works in them with access you can remove. Agree separately who controls each executive's personal profile.
- Ad spend runs on your company's payment method or is passed through at cost, and you can see it in the ad platform.
- The content the agency produces, including raw photo and video files, belongs to you and is delivered to a library you hold.
- Reporting uses tools and dashboards you can keep if the agency leaves.
- Creator and influencer content carries usage rights that state where and for how long you can use it.
Questions to ask on the first call
Use these to compare agencies on the same terms. Ask each firm for the answers in writing.
- Which of our jobs would you take over: strategy, content, publishing, community management, paid social, creators or reporting?
- Who on your team would run our account day to day, and how many other clients do they manage?
- Can you show a client like us, on the platforms we use, with results you can share?
- What does your fee include, and what is billed separately: ad spend, production, creator fees, tools?
- How long is the contract, and what is the notice period or opt-out?
- Who owns our profiles, ad accounts and content files, and how are they handed back if we part ways?
- What will you report each month, and which results should we expect at 90 days?
- How do you handle a comment crisis or an urgent issue outside working hours?

How this list was made
Each firm's homepage, social media service pages, case or client pages, and its pricing or FAQ pages where the site links them were read on October 7, 2026. A firm is listed where those pages show a social media service and at least one named or described client, case or testimonial. Figures, client names and prices are the firms' own published claims.
